Andi Regan

Andi Regan is a Wanaka based artist. She holds a Bachelor of Art with Honours, Multi Media Textile Design (Loughborough University, UK 1996) and a Higher National Diploma, Surface Pattern Design (Leeds College of Art & Design, UK 1994). Originally from the UK, she has been living in NZ for over 11 years.

Several reputable publications have featured Andi’s work and she has had numerous solo and group exhibitions to date. She has been a finalist in the World of WearableArt show in Wellington 4 times, gaining Third Place in The South Pacific Section in 2014 and an Honourable Mention in 2011. Many other awards have been achieved over the last 3 years too, including winning the Central Otago Art Awards in 2011.

My work follows a process of creating forms from man-made materials that explore the natural world, reconnecting us to mother-nature and reminding us not take it for granted. Naturally occurring patterns inspire me to play with texture and symmetry, creating uniformity and rhythm through my construction skills. Utilising thousands of plastic cable ties enables me to give a usually industrial item new life and further manipulation with colour, creates an organic feel. I enjoy the challenge of transforming these ordinary found objects into desired forms that give me a sense of accomplishment.
