My name is Jo Midgley, a full time and proudly self-taught painter from Glenhope, Nelson. My medium is oil paint on canvas. My signature style is the vibrancy and immediacy created through the tactile layering of paint. Fantails, Morepork, Robins and Falcons fill the scenes on my canvases, allowing me to immerse myself in the creation of beauty and detail. As an avid observer of detail, this allows me to capture the expressions of native birds and their beautiful surroundings. Luckily for me I live on a sheep farm and can draw inspiration from everything on my back door step. My works are purely created for the sole reason to make the viewer smile and have a strong connection with nature.
